Hi! I'm Thomas. I've been admitted to Syracuse University to study math. Problem is, I'm really anxious about the transition to university so I would like to make some friends before actually coming there. Could someone please suggest a way?

(Sorry for creating such a stupid thread; I'm really tense.)

It’s ok. Thats one of many fears college students have these days.

before arriving on campus, I would recommend checking out the learning communities available and see if you can join any that fits you best. Also trying seeking out some people on facebook in your class year that share the same interest as you. Having said that, the best way to get acquainted with people once you arrive on campus is to join activities, clubs, sports, in classrooms etc. The RA in your residence hall should also help you get better acquainted with people on your floor through regular meetings. Then once you become friends with a few people then you begin to know many more because those friends will introduce you to other friends and so on.

Hope that helps.
