Spring Semester Move-In Day

Is there a designated move in day for the spring semester. Instruction begins on january 17 and i was planning on moving in on the 16th.

I was a spring admit. They Units have a move-in day but it is ridiculously lame. I came up to Cal last semester thinking that there was going to be a nice welcome and all I got was an empty floor and no one around to socialize with. That was about 3 or 4 days before instruction started. I would suggest moving in the morning before instruction starts. Or you could move in a couple day early if you want to acquaint yourself with the campus, your classrooms, the building your living in, and the dinning halls.

I’m a spring 2012 admit. What is there to do during the dead week before instruction starts? I am moving into the I-House.

So is the general inclination to move in a day or two before instruction begins? What is the earliest date we can move in at all?

We should be able to move in when the ‘Spring Semester’ officially begins so a week before instruction begins then.

There’s not much to do besides going out with friends who are already there? For the fall, we have caltopia, I wonder what there will be in Spring Lol.

The dorms have official dates when nobody can be in residence - they use it for repairs, construction and to not have to pay a full complement of security and other staff. There is a date that is the earliest you can be back in the dorms for spring, since you must be out by 10AM on December 17th. You can’t move back until 8AM on January 11th. That is one day AFTER the spring semester officially starts, so you cannot enter the dorms on the first day of a semester, only on the ‘move in day’ or equivalent after winter break.

When do most students move back in?
