Spring Transfer Chances?

Hey!
I'm currently a freshman at Oberlin College. I'm looking to transfer and Vassar is definitely high up on my list. I like the Spring Transfer option and will probably send in an app. I'm using CC as a sounding board for what my chances might be?

Reasons for transferring: Vassar's Victorian Studies department, the breadth and depth of English, Religion, and Drama courses. The extensive student theater. The house system. Close proximity to NY.

Thanks so much!

What are your reasons for transferring? you give reasons for why Vassar, not why leave Oberlin after, what, 6 weeks?

Hi collegemom,
My reasons for leaving Oberlin are many: they don’t offer a Victorian Studies dept. and their English and Religion departments are fairly small and only offer a handful of classes in my areas of interest. Location is another big factor in my decision. Oberlin is very remote for me. (I grew up in a city on the East Coast.) Vassar is also closer to NY and my home (as I mentioned above). Socially, Vassar is a better fit for me than Oberlin. I think because Oberlin is so remote, there is a fair amount of partying that goes on among all students. According to the Vassar students I’ve spoken to, partying goes on, but is not a central part of campus social life. Another thing I really miss at Oberlin is a residential community, something I think Vassar definitely provides with the house system. I hope this was helpful!
