Hello all! I have been lurking this forum for useful information so that the day I decided to transfer I would be better prepared.

While the site has helped, my current academic load hasn't been so nice... I realized all my applications are due tomorrow for Spring Transfer and am afraid I may be unable to write amazing essays for I have been studying day in and out for my 3 midterms today... I am actually taking a break from the one I might as well say I will "fail" (C/C+ range?).

Anyway, I don't really have a reason to transfer except for the fact that I want a new location, new friends, and maybe a bit more academic independence. I am a sophomore in college now at a LAC and have no clue what I will do with my life.

WHAT SHOULD I WRITE MY TRANSFER ESSAY ABOUT?!

Thanks! :)

since your not sure what you want to do with ‘your life,’ maybe write about how your current college doesn’t challenge or entice you to reflect on your life in a meaningful way; it doesn’t promote the progression or evolution of an individual. Maybe you want your new college to help shape you into the person who will spend the rest of your ‘life?’

If you have to think about what to write in your transfer essay, you should reconsider the whole process.

what do you mean reconsider the whole process?

When I transferred, (and this goes along with my transfer friends), I knew exactly why I wanted to transfer. And your reasons, though important, to a college seem trivial. (Ex, you can make new friends at your current school, and your academic independence is your own responsibility). I know that this may not be the case, but when transferring it can’t be about “what my school doesn’t offer”, it has to be about what the transfer school offers.

I don’t mean reconsider in a sense that you shouldn’t, but maybe you should give it another semester, and do more research about other schools. That way, you’ll write about why you want to go to school x without throwing your current school under the bus.

I got accepted! Thought I should share the news.

See you all soon!
