So I’m finishing my last required classes at cc this fall and was planning on transferring to Electrical Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona in the Spring of 2021. But I recently found out they aren’t accepting impacted majors in the spring so that leaves me with Cal state Long Beach in the spring or waiting for CPP for fall 2021. I was really set on CPP because I’m super hands on and love the Cal Poly approach to engineering, the connections they have and their reputation of course as a great technical school. I have a 3.5 gpa so I know I have a pretty good chance. On the other hand I’ve been in school for the past three years while working full time and I don’t want to drag it out longer than I have to. Waiting a whole semester seems pretty daunting. Does it make that much of a difference? How likely is it to transfer from one Cal state to another of for example I started at CSULB and transferred to CPP. Or would it be better to apply to CPP in a different major and try to talk to the engineering department and switch from
there. I guess CSULB has perks too like a better college atmosphere and it’s way close to where I live. I’m just looking for some recommendations from more experienced college grads. Thanks
Not an recent experienced grad, but I would apply for Spring semester at CSULB, see if you are accepted and then make the decision. Hopefully within a few months, you can tour their Engineering facilities and see for yourself if you want to study there.
If not, you always can reapply to other CSU’s including CPP for Fall 2021.
Best of luck.
Apply for spring and see what happens. I’d find a way to visit the campus and
talk to someone in the department and the career center about the LB program and who hires its grads. Reputationaly, they are comparable and keeping momentum toward your diploma is important.
You might also apply to the other commutable CSUs. Better to have more options at this stage.
