Hello, can someone please tell me which colleges have a good number of spring transfer spots?

Lots of them?

You need to be way more specific for any answer to be particularly helpful.

Well, it should be a private school. It must also award scholarships/ aid awards to the students enrolling in the spring semester.

Hopefully, that will bring some names to mind!

Use the Search function for ‘spring’, this is a FAQ.

I used the search function but there were no answers to my question. I understand that some colleges don’t have places for spring transfer and some don’t have the funds so does anyone know any college which is known for being spring-friendly?

First page of Search for ‘spring’:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1141601-official-spring-2012-transfer-enter-new-university-january-2012-thread.html?highlight=spring

Extremely difficult because relatively few give merit to transfers (see the Resources sticky thread) and they are generally given out in the fall. FA can be limited in the spring too.

To narrow it down, you must give some stats, major (if relevant, eg. engineering), region of the country, etc.

Another school that I don’t think anyone mentioned on the above list is W&M. They accept about 70 transfers in the spring. I can’t think of any schools that are especially “spring-friendly.” It’s not as easy to accommodate students coming in halfway through the year. There isn’t as much of a break for orientation; housing is limited; financial aid is probably tricky. Sorry I can’t be of more help!

@entomom- My stats are:

SAT= 2150
College GPA=3.5

Major is Economics. Location does not matter.

I visited the thread for 2012 spring transfer and their are very few schools mentioned there. I wonder if their is a research of some sort about this that I can find on the internet!

We don’t have an Econ major at my college (Chester College of New England), so perhaps I can help. I am an Admission Director. A lot of colleges want Spring transfers. They may not promote it, since most of them are looking hard and heavy at Fall. However, it is simply a matter of math. Students leave college in the Spring for any number of reasons (financial, performance, fit, homesickness, cost, etc.). Generally speaking, the college would like to replace those students.

The thing that might get in the way is if their curriculum is structured in such a way, that it makes it difficult to enter in mid-year. Other colleges, such as those state schools that might be heavily impacted, might deter Spring transfers. However, if you see colleges you are interested in, I would definitely simply make direct contact with that school and ask them. Dont’ limit yourself from an opportunity you would really like to pursue, simply because they are not promoting it somewhere.

Good luck!
