Spring Transfer

can any one post names of school that have intakes in spring/winter?
schools that are known to be recruited by IBs

cornell...i think

thanks for the post
thats the only one i know of lol.... any more ????

Lmao!--------------------

whats so funny about that

umm.. harvard? -_-

Rice takes spring transfers, i believe.

Look into schools you like regardless, and then see if they have spring transfer. There's no point in transferring to a school you don't want to go to just so you can get out of your current school sooner. Better to wait and go to the one you really want. But yeah, check out websites of the schools you like and see! :)

and plus its harder to transfer in the spring i believe

the thing is i am a junior already, if i wait i would nt be able to get out of here(Ohio State), thats why i am looking schools that have an intake in spring..
Does Rice have a good B- school ?
Or a good econ program ?

brand_182, why do you feel transferring in spring is harder.. I thought it should be a little easier because most ppl apply in Fall..?

If you are a junior already.... you want to transfer for your last semester of senior year??? Most schools require transfers to spend at least 4 semesters at the new school.

just stay at osu. you're almost done anyway.

hey there are another 1 and a half years to go.... guys help!!!

i just got junior status, i have done 104 quarter hours, close to 60 sem. hours.. so there are another 5 quarters/ 3 semesters to go before i graduate.. and i really want to get that IB analyst job... transfer seems like the only option.. OSU is hardly recruited(4/5 ppl.. the oes who have contacts)

if you're already a junior you really won't be able to transfer anywhere.

yea, i've heard that schools do not like to take people that have taken most of the classes for their major somewhere else. thats the whole point of getting the degree from the school you transferred to.

That is incorrect. One poster here on CC was admitted as senior transfer to Rice University, though, had he transferred, he would have had to complete two years there.

Harvard doesn't "take" spring transfers, they designate 25 of the 75 to come in the spring and you have to be a freshman applying for sophomore transfer. And if you're worried about jobs, my boss at my internship who was talking to me about why I was leaving UVM told me that if I went to Georgetown or Harvard (which were my two top choices) I would be just like most everybody else, whereas if I stayed at UVM I would be outshining everybody else.
I don't really know about IB but I know recruiting is important. I guess the positive flip side you can take from that negative is that you are allowed to shine without the competition you would have at Harvard or Cornell or Rice. And I guess you CAN transfer as a senior like nspeds to some places (not Harvard, that's the only one I'm certain of) but I'd bet you need a more compelling reason than "I don't like my school and it isn't heavily rectuited."

Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

shaganov- he doesn't have to tell them the only reason he's transferring is because the school he's currently in isn't heavily recruited by ibanks. He can lie / focus on other better reasons why he wants to transfer.

It depends on how high a "jump" in schools you are taking: if you are jumping from a school like UVM to Harvard, risking the lask of salience is well worth it.

This year, I faced the same decision between Georgetown and UChicago. I would not be salient at UChicago because of my intellectual bent, but I am salient at Georgetown since it is a pre-professional school. I settled on Georgetown because it was simply not worth the added stress of competition and the lack of attention to take such a small jump.

That is correct.

Be aware, for those who are transferring as seniors, that almost all universities have a residency requirement of two years. So if you are admitted as a senior, assuming all your credits transfer, you will be starting again as a junior at the new school.
