^ Polo and some khaki’s would be fine for semi-formal

Well, semi-formal, in my opinion, is like a nice pair of khakis, a button down and tie/simple polo, and some loafers/Sperrys/whatever-they’re-called. Nothing too dressy, but nothing too casual.

Edit: Oh, EnticingPlague beat me to it. Gosh darnit.

And I totally identify. I went to a summer program at Notre Dame and even though the head of admissions basically said since were at the program we were basically shoo-ins, I thought my standardized test scores would make them change their minds. Obviously not! Congratulations to everyone else and see you there (maybe?).

Yeah I wanna make a FB group, but I can’t since I technically don’t know any of your real names. Would anyone be willing to email me, so I can add you as a friend, then make a group that everyone else can join?

Actually nevermind, I got it going, we don’t have to be friends, just search it and send me a request to join!

“Notre Dame Spring Visitation Weekend 2012” is the group name if link doesn’t work!

First-time poster here. I have a question for you guys. What are your stats? I applied EA and was deferred. I am a Hispanic/Hawaiian/Filipino/Chinese/Caucasian mix with a 31 ACT, 2130 SAT, 3.6 UW GPA (my weakness I know) and I am on the Senior Management Team for a student-run nonprofit that just raised over $130,000 and won a national competition sponsored by Subway. To be honest I think I am a pretty good candidate, as far as diversity goes. I’m looking to find some answers as to what I’m up against. Thanks guys. I’m sure you all deserve it and congratulations.

Hispanic(Bolivian)/White
3.72 UW GPA
33 ACT
No out-of-this-world ECs, mainly service projects/camps and school clubs

African-American
4.9 W GPA (I don’t know my weighted, truthfully)
30 ACT (35 E, 27 M, 27 S, 30 R, 11 essay)/ 1910 SAT
Good ECs that show focus instead of quantity, a pretty impressive job, good recommendations and essays

Does anyone know how many people in total are invited to the Spring Visitation Weekends?

My stats are actually pretty bad, I have no idea why I was invited.
680 Reading, 640 Math, 590 Writing - 1910
My essays were amazing, my supplements were quirky and showed off my personality. I am Mexican-American form Texas, and I am a first generation college student. My recommendation was good and my grades are all for the most part A’s. I do have a ton of leadership positions though and I am a debate city champion.

@EnticingPlaque other than the SAT, which is still far above-average, your stats don’t look bad at all. Plus you are first generation. Well deserved if you ask me.

@EnticingPlague

I freaked out when I saw your SAT! I have a 680 CR, 590 M, and 640 W. That’s so strange/awesome!!

For reference, the SAT middle 50% for freshmen enrolling for Fall semester 2011 was 1990 to 2260. The middle 50% for the ACT was 32 to 34.

Do you guys think I might be invited?
Here are my some of my stats.

Common app essay was pretty good (8/10)
Other essays were okay… one of them was very sarcastic.

Recommendations were awesome, I think. (i sent in like 4)
- One of the recs was by my Math teacher who taught me Algebra I Iin 9th grade and Pre-Calc in 11th grade.

Also, I am not actually African-American–more like naturalized African. My family and I went through a lot (that I touched on in my app).
I have lived in three countries now and I speak 4 languages.

Do you think there is a chance that I will be invited?

You have a very interesting background. From a student’s standpoint, it would be great to have someone with your background as part of the student body. A lot of students are interested in African studies, and it would be great to have someone who has personal experience with recent events to offer insight. I hope ND’s involvement in Africa and appreciation of African culture will be to your advantage. Good luck!

I hope I get invited too. I am a pretty big fan of the Irish and would like to be one.
I lived in a post-genocide Rwanda for 11 years and then in Uganda for 2 years. I went to Tanzania several times as I visited my sister because that is where she lived). I talked about all this in my app and I hope it helps. :)

Yeah see if you don’t get invited that would be ridiculous in my opinion. I hope you do, good luck.

@ragero1

The trip’s in a couple weeks, just curious but what’s the verdict?

I have not received any invitation. I don’t think the invitations for the last session have sent out yet, have they?

We are still hoping for you to be invited.

There is a second weekend - starting April 19th
