Springs Complex

Can anyone that has lived in Springs please tell me the pros/cons of living here? Thank you so much!!!

I’ve been living in Springs since August, and will be living here again during Summer B. It’s good for athletes because it’s close to all of the athletic complexes. Getting to class is somewhat easy during the day with the 4 buses that pass by it every few minutes (less frequent towards the evening). The rooms themselves are better than most dorms. The floors are carpeted, there’s central AC, all of the rooms are suite-style, so you only share a bathroom with 3 other people (your roommate and your 2 next door suite-mates). The rooms also have walking closets, which allow for more storage space (my roommate used to keep his bike in there!). However, with the exception of the athletic complexes, there aren’t very many points of interest within easy walking distance of the dorm (thank goodness for SNAP), so walking to places at night or on the weekends becomes somewhat of a chore. Also, Springs is not very social and the commons is not as nice as some of the other ones I’ve seen (Beaty, Murphree). Overall, I think it’s a good place to live if the location issue doesn’t bother you too much. Also, there are parking lots literally right in front of the buildings (for upperclassmen only, except for weekends, early morning/late night), and other spots across the street and further down on Fraternity Row, you don’t have to park at the commuter lot or Hume like a lot of other students have to.

Thanks for the info! My friend and I are rooming here together in the Fall. Like the idea of the walk in closets and not sharing the bathroom with the rest of the floor. How far of a walk is it to classes for freshmen? Also, how far for food?

I’m staying in springs most likely definitely excited not to share a communal bathroom!

Most classes and food locations will be at least 0.5 miles but not more than 1 mile away. The time it takes depends on how fast you can walk. However, the crosswalk signals often take a long time to change, so never leave for class or exams at the last minute. My roommate did pull of the impossible and walked from Springs to Norman in 15 mins.
