Springtime for barnard

(sorry if my forum title got The Producers stuck in anyone’s head. It felt clever at the time…aka now.)

Has anyone transferred for spring semester or know any spring transfers? Is it more difficult to adjust socially coming in the middle of a semester?

Also, anyone know if it’s harder/easier to get in during spring admissions? Would I have a better shot if I wait until fall? (I will enter as a second-semester sophomore if I begin this spring.)

Aaand lastly, I’ve heard that Columbia and NYU really hate it when you talk about how you want to go to their schools because they are in NYC–is this the same at Barnard? (That’s not why I want to go there, but it’s one of many reasons, so I’m wondering if I should just keep that one to myself.)

Thanks muchly!

Sorry I cannot speak to your questions about transferring. As to the "NYC" factor: I think just the general "it's great because it's in NYC...the GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD!!" with no specific info as to why/how this is crucial to YOU as a potential student, is indicative of a lack of real interest and or understanding of the school itself. A well-reasoned response which includes specifics about the school itself as relates to its unique location (and how that will affect YOU as a student) is what is needed, IMO.
