SPS: Ask a Student

Hi! I'm a third form girl at SPS, and I'd love to answer any questions! I don't know too much about waitlists, though, so I'm probably better equipped to answer anything about school life, classes, etc. Ask away!

What made you choose SPS over the other schools, and what do you typically do on weekends? (besides sports)

So did everyone have straight A’s, get a 99th percentile SSAT, and have great EC’s before coming to SPS?
What is your favorite thing about SPS?

What made you choose SPS over the other schools, and what do you typically do on weekends? (besides sports)

Well, SPS was the only school I got into, so that was pretty much the deciding factor! On Saturday afternoons with no sports, I generally go into town with my friends. We usually get lunch and walk around Concord, or go to the grocery store. Moritomos has awesome sushi, and House of India is also good. It can get a little repetitive, so you have to mix it up. There is also this awesome little confection shop on Main Street with chocolate and caramel apples and great stuff. Plus there is a vintage shop which is always fun to poke around, and some kind of iffy thrift stores that can be funny. Concord gets sort of old after a while, but if you go looking, you can find some stuff. Like there was a winter farmers market we discovered, which was great.

Then, on Saturday nights there is usually a dance and always a Rectory open house. They have great cookies and poppyseed cake and lots of people play board games and hang out there. Or you can just watch a movie in your dorm or whatever.

Sundays people generally go to brunch and then do homework. But you could go see a movie in town or do something school-sponsored like Kpop dance classes with the Korean Society.

So did everyone have straight A’s, get a 99th percentile SSAT, and have great EC’s before coming to SPS?

Definitely not.

Make-your-own-sundae in the Upper on Saturday nights!
