does anybody have sps as thier first choice?

Why is St. Paul"s School your first choice? SPS accepts far fewer students than Exeter or Andover simply because it is less than half the size of either school. SPS is 100% boarding, and does not accept PG"s (post graduates ).

Garrity, boardingschool is not telling people to like SPS. It is not in your interest to tell him/her why he/she should or should not like it. Despite what you say, boardingschool and many others are still going to have SPS as their first choice. It is a fine choice and liking it depends on one's personal experiences and their fit. It is not up to you to negate good reasons for liking it.

Choate is my first choice, however.

OLivia, you misunderstand my response. It was and is a valid question - not an opinion.

IMO the facts which Istated favor SPS: but I"m just trying to get more of the OP"s thoughts on why or why not SPS>

She asked who liked it as their first choice, and she didn't say that it was HER first choice. It isn't your responsibility to negate people for their opinions about it.

You are very emotional. I did not negate anything. Please reread the material.

The fact that SPS is 100% boarding is a plus in my opinion. It promotes a sense of family, unity, as well as closeness that is somewhat lost in a mixed environment. The Andover guide showed as part of our tour the pickup/drop-off location for day students. IMHO Andover has too high a %age of day students. Day students aren't really prepared for a life on their own in the same way boarders are.... again my opinion.

If I apply to St. Paul's next year it will definitely be my first choice, then Deerfield or Andover. :)

i think SPS is my first choice..i don't know. andover used to be. and i also love choate.. i wasn't even interested in SPS at first. now i really love it, but i still know much more about anodver (because i did so much research when it was my first choice).. plus, my mom immediately fell in love with SPS when she opened the viewbook, which is a plus because i trust her opinion. Large campus, laid-back kids, amazing English and philosophy electives, on-staff artists, great photography classes, 100% boarding, rural, peaceful area yet still by a city (!), traditional yet very progressive, egalitarian FA, no PG's to overshaddow the real students in athletics, great sense of community.. ahhhhhhh.

Mt brother's first choice. Because of size, 100% boarding and humanities program among other things.

SPS is probably my first choice. When I visited there I got a wonderful feeling from the campus, students, and faculty that wasn't present as much in the other schools I visited.

noo blairt andover was supposed to be ur first choice haha, then when i become an exonian we can face off in athletic competitions loll ;)

lol..i've just sort of.. eh, i don't know. i still like andover, but i used to LOVE it and everything. i would still be very happy to go there (or exeter, or anywhere else i applied to)..

blair, what schools did you end up applying to? Did you visit any?

SPS is definetley my first choice. I love everything about it, the courses, the architecture, the people, the campus and the tradition.

How do you think SPS compares academically to, say, Andover or Exeter?

SPS, Exeter and Andover are all outstanding academically. Exeter is strong in the sciences, SPS in humanities - although SPS has plans for a new science center. All three schools are, however, unusually strong across the spectrum of academic offerings. Exeter and Andover are much larger schools than SPS and, thus, can offer a larger variety of courses.

St. Andrews School in Delaware is very strong in English and writing:
Lots of instructors from Middlebury"s Breadloaf School.
