SPS is up

I applied for the 2010-2011 year and got accepted to SPS!!!

WAY TO GO, NEATO! Yes, Assign, Neato does have an amazing child. I read his essays. They were incredible. After reading them, I knew that he would get into one or more great BS’s. Congratulations!

Waitlisted. Oh well.

All schools **ALWAYS **accept more than they have spots for. Even the TOP schools are happy when their yield is over 50%. That is why when one person does not accept an offer, one person is not automatically taken off the waitlist.

Very competitive year. Congrats to those accepted, keep hoping to those on the waitlist. To those not accepted, take comfort in the fact that you are amazing young people and it doesn’t mean you are not worthy!

Thanks

Last year, SPS had a yield of 70% and overenrolled, so I think they are being cautious this year. Perhaps that can result in some waitlist movement.

Congratulations to those that got in, my daughter was waitlisted…third school this morning. Still have some more to go, but this was her first choice. Still feeling hopeful.

You have an AMAZINGLY AMAZING son, Doschicos. Best of luck to your son in his learning endeavors.

I would bet you are right doschicos. But it also means less spots - even in the 9th grade because of beds since they are 100% boarding if they want to get back to a pre-last year number.
70% is highly unusual.

Congratulations to all accepted!

Congrats doschicos. It is so rare that a kid makes it into both Exeter and SPS. So wonderful for your family.

what about those who weren’t

Thanks assign and neatoburrito. We feel very blessed to have 2 great choices. Now reality has set in - we won’t have him at home in the fall! :(

Candidate123, congrats to you as well. You put yourself out there and that is scary enough to do at any age. Look at the statistics that doschicos posted. I am sure that you are in VERY good company not being accepted to SPS. You’re with my son, after all ! Even though I don’t know you, I’m proud of you.

Congratulations to you all who got accepted to either SPS or Exeter!!! (Where is the “Exeter is up” thread?)

Our daughter is in at SPS, WL at Exeter – funny, backwards from Neato!

candidate123: I am hoping you will get better news from another school today. I hope you are still waiting on some (?). This process is insane and as you can see 14% is an impossibly tough number. Finally, as you all know the process is imperfect and the profile of what any specific school is looking for in any given year is hard to predict. I have seen some amazingly talented people with warm and engaging posts on this site this year and there have been a number of you that I thought were going to get it. I guess that is why I never try to ‘chance’ anyone. It is no different that college applications. Seems terribly unfair. My heart goes out to the 86%. All of you are good people, you know that, your families know that and many of us here know that.

thx10char…

Yeah
We know it for sure!
It’s really hard to predict what kinds of people they want every year.

Stay positive!!!
