In perspective, several Ivy League colleges and others (Cornell,Penn,MIT,Duke) accept a higher percent. So do not despair. It is VERY tough this year.

what’s the link to access decisions?

Winterset, has SPS disclosed its acceptance rate this year? 14% is it? Even lower than Andover’s 15%?

Benley: the full stats are on the St. Paul’s School thread. But as you know both the numerator and the denominator vary by year.

Here’s a repeat of the stats from this year’s acceptance notification:

These acceptance rates are truly humbling. Geez! It’s easier to get into Cal-tech as a freshman!

I have said throughout this process that I would trust the process, that the admissions people are very good at their jobs. I continue to feel that way (and I continue to hold SPS in the highest regard even though my son was not admitted ).

hey creative1, do you happen to know the link to access decisions?

As expected, the acceptance rate for 4th form (Sophomore) girls was very low due to last year’s overenrollment of freshman girls.

thanks a lot!

Why 65+67 doesn’t make a 135?

27+17, 7+2, etc.

You’re right, gonnastop! The numbers don’t add up correctly. Good thing the admissions folks don’t teach math! All I can think is that they were still playing with the numbers until the very last minute and forgot to adjust up or down.

REALLY GOOD QUESTION! Think you caught them! I can think of a lot of humorous explanations, but suspect they screwed it up.

Yeah, the numbers are a little off - students of all 3 forms add up to 188 not 185, but we get the point… assuming a yield of 75% they only enroll less than 140 students. So, those that didn’t get in, don’t feel bad really.

V Form is 11th grade right? Only 2 girls! I’m glad I didn’t waste my time applying there.

Dang. I got WL’d at SPS.

I just asked about the #'s. I am told that the individual #'s were correct, but not the totals. Bleary and tired eyes. Apparently, emails will be going out with corrected #'s and that those that have not yet been opened are being corrected.

Wow, Winterset! When you call, people jump! :)

Haha creative1, you’re so creative LOL

Thanks winterset!!! Reading applications is really hard…

A 14% acceptance rate is just horrible!

As I said, one website (can’t seem to find final definitive #'s, hmmm , Grrrr? ) says the Ivy’s averaged 15.6% last year, with people like Cornell at 18%, MIT at 14.2% and Duke at 17%. So if you got in to some of these boarding schools, kiss the ground you stand on, and if you did not then don’t blame yourself.
