SPS or Choate - academically (and otherwise) speaking

I think these posts are available to be read by anyone with an internet connection…including my S (he has in fact read what has been posted thus far). So, not really hiding anything from anyone. Just want him to be the author of his choice, ultimately. My ‘contribution’ to his thought process is/was, in part, to ask a lot of questions that would give him as many data points as possible. These two great schools strike me as extremely different…they have their strengths (and weaknesses, no doubt). Not having attended either, we are not sure we can parse the pros and cons of each. The folks on CC seem to know a lot, especially those who attend either school now, or who are parents of current students.

Both are great schools. Obviously you and your son think either would be a great fit since that is where your son applied.

That being the case, I would choose based on objective variables; which is closer to home? Is one school less expensive?

There is no reason to question the outstanding merits of either school.

Congratulations on his enviable position.

With a performing arts student, if one of the schools is more accessible for family to attend concerts, etc, it could be a factor. I have loved being able to make it to my daughter’s concerts (and just being able to visit). If they are both far from where you love, then this won’t be a consideration. Good luck with this wonderful, can’t-go-wrong choice!
