hi, just wondering how you all did on the ssats and stuff. i was reading other posts and this looks like a great website for ppl applying to prep schools. anyone wanna chat?

I'll chat with you. I am so bored. LOLZ.

me too, lol. where are u applying? i am to exeter, andover, loomis, choate, hotchkiss, and miss porters. i got 88 overall on ssats but i took them again this morning... fun

I'm applying to Peddie, Pennington, and Lawrenceville. I wish I could apply to more schools, but I only recently decided I was applying as boarding - I was originally going to apply for day because I live in New Jersey. I got a 97% overall on the SSATS. Good luck!

i think a lot of the questions were pretty tricky, and i think it was kinda easy, but then i made some "educated" guesses to what i felt was right, so i think i didn't really do well.

I got a 97% overall also, I just did bad on math...but 'tis life. I'm applying to Andover, Exeter, Hothckiss, Choate, Loomis, and NMH.

andover, exeter, loomis, SPS, and hill. 97% (a lot of us seemed to have gotten that scores)

ummm
i didn't.
:] lol

but thats alright because i took it again yesterday.
i'm not sure if I did well, but the results will come later :T
Does the essay on the test make a huge difference? Because I misinterpreted my topic!! :O

The essay doesn't make a huge difference. The SSAT essay is to let the admission officers see if there is a HUGE difference between your application essays and the essay that you were given 25 minutes to do on.

..i think. :D

what was your prompt?

wow, now i dont feel that great, you all did awesome on the ssats! i feel like i did pretty well yesterday, and i hope so. for nov. 10, my essay was about projects being easier when broken up, and yesterday was about if ppl fail more by doing too much rather than too little. are they all the same?

my question was "Is wanting to know better than knowing?"
I thought that was pretty fair...
Does anyone know is the verbal percentiles are usually higher than the others? b/c that's always the hardest one for me but on the ISEE i got a 94. and, alot of people here are saying they got in the 90's with up to 10 wrong.

i dont know... actually, my verbal on the november ssat was my lowest score. its virtually impossible to study as many words as you really need to. are you all applying for 9th grade?

i'm in 9th applying for 10th, what about you?
and, yeah, I know that verbal will be my lowest, I'm just hoping not too low...
math was good though

my topic was "do good ideas ever come from jokes?". that's the worst topic I've ever written on, I talked about jon stewart though so hopefully they won't think it's too bad

wow, I could not have done that one!

gosh, my prompt seems so easy compared to all of those. mine was: "You should always trust your gut instincts. Do you agree or disagree with this?" it was totally easy...at least i thought. and verbal tends to be a subject that you cant really study for, you are either ready for it or not.

wow, that was a really hard essay topic! im in 8th applying for 9th. i originally got 79%ile on verbal, but i feel like i did much better yesterday, but i have to wait and see... this thread is fun, lets keep it up for a while. how are you guys doing on your apps? my parents just have to do the thing for hotchkiss, them=n im all done! i cant wait to be all through with these things. btw, 8 weeks from tomorrow is march 10th!

ahhh, march 10th! I didn't think I would be nervous for march 10th or getting my ssats back, but I totally am!
what did you think of the hotchkiss app? It took me awhile, but since it's the only place i'm applying to I guess I just spent longer than I had to
btw, do you think the school cares that much if one of your scores is lower but overall it's high?

hotchkisshopeful - It depends on how lo0psided your scores are. Let's say you got a 40% for verbal but 90% overall. Then of course they'd wonder why your scores are like that.

I love the essay I wrote for hotchkiss. I think that was the best one out of the tons that I wrote. haha. Which one did you answer?
