SSAT Experimental Section

I’m trying to confirm that the 5th section of the SSAT will be an experimental section and will not count towards my daughter’s grade? If that is true it would be nice to let her know that she doesn’t have to stress too much about that 5th and last section of the test. If you have any insight, please let me know!

The experimental section does not count towards the score. It’s used to help the SSAT creators build material for upcoming tests.

Thanks goldenfygg. Does every SSAT test have the experimental section and is it always section 5? Just don’t want to confuse my daughter. Thank you

It is always the last section. I am pretty sure that it is on every test.

@Lilly5: I identified it as the one that had questions from all of the sections (some verbal, some math, and one or two reading passages) and the ONLY section on the test that tests for FIFTEEN minutes. When I tested, the test proctors did not mention that it was an experimental section and only told mentioned that this section was 15 minutes, but the SSAT Official Guide explicitly states that the experimental section is the only section that lasts fifteen minutes.

The experimental section is only that, experimental. It is a test for the SSAT to “test out” future SSAT problems on the current test-takers. It does not count on her score. However, that shouldn’t stop her from trying them with the best of her efforts. It is, in a way, additional practice.
