Sorry if this has been covered (I searched but I couldn't find it) - what exactly is the purpose of that last mini-section? And is it scored?

It’s not scored and has no impact on percentiles or scale of the test that it appears on. It used to develop new questions for future exams. At least they are kind enough to clearly mark it as an experimental section. On the SAT, students have a complete extra section of either math, reading, or writing and they don’t know which is the experimental section. One of them will not be counted towards the test’s score but they only way to know is to compare with other kids.

If I had a kid taking it, I’d just tell them to leave it blank and take a nap.

Thanks for the quick response. I was pretty sure it was not scored, I just wanted to reassure my kiddo who just finished the test. :)
