SSAT for Jan 6th

Math was very hard, reading was insane i thought, and verbal was alittle too much. My SSAT study book didnt do much for me in any categories

do they give out different tests on each day? so people don't cheat?

No, same test, I think. At least at my test center, all of us had the same test (Upper Level).

so you guys had the one w/ the reading passage about the collision..? it didn't seem hard to me, but maybe i was presumptous.

I think they have different exams for different test sites, but I'm not quite sure
My SSAT exam had the hardest analogy questions I have ever seen in my life. Reading was okay, first section math was extremely easy, but the second section math had some questions I couldn't possibly even understand.
I studied Kaplan/Barrons workbooks, and I was quite surprised that the words I studied from Kaplan actually showed up in the exam (Not only one, but several). I don't think Barron's helped me very much, because the math in the exam was too easy compare to those in Barron's. I've actually looked into SAT analogy questions, but the analogy questions I got in SSAT kinda fell into Medium-Hard categories. I thought they only asked Easy-Medium questions :(.. Too bad.

Yes, Blairt, I had the one with ship collision.

which analogy was it?

Last few ones..I don't quite remember them all, but I guess I didn't study enough analogies :( I am pretty weak at verbal sections too. I'm thinking low 80s overall for my mark.

everyone has the same tests in all test sites.
Yes i agree some of the analogies were very hard.
Table is to altar and _______ is to _______.
I didnt see any connection there!
vocab easy. i had trouble with 2.
math was incredibly easy. i loved the last math question for the first section because it was tricky but I got it :) the one with the beads
umm. reading was a lot easier than last time, but some questions were hard

What did you get for the bead question? I got 6, but I now have a feeling I misunderstood the question...

it was song is to hymn!!!!

msu - i bet we got the same 2 wrong (or omitted).

the beadss.. um, i'm pretty sure it was 3? one in the middle of the other 2.. one on each side.. or 5, i don't remember the questino exactly.

yep it was three.
haha probably
really? whats the connection? i was having so much trouble with that.
well i got that wrong. hah

an altar/hymn is a table/song-like and used for holy purposes and in a holy setting.

was 5 one of the options?

Blegh. I was so confident about the math section...and now I discover that the one answer I ask about is actually wrong. Thanks for answering so quickly.

what were the 2 vocab ?'s you didn't get?

I didn't get 2.. i was going to guess for one (and guess correctly, as i later found out), but the other i really couldn't narrow it down.

you know which analogy i had trouble with?

ram is to ewe as:
boar is to hog
stag is to doe
pony is to colt
and 2 others.. can't remember

i didn't know what a ewe was, but i figured the analogy out.

5 was an option.
OH WHAT, BUT IM NOT RELIGIOUS!
I put like.. tower is to castle. I had no idea. I dont know why I didnt even omit it.
i cant remember, but I remember one was before purloin.
what were yours.

Yeah, I got that analogy wrong...I was under the impression that an ewe was a a baby ram (I thought a ram was a species of it's own.) Yup, I'm stupid.

ewe is a baby ram
so it is one of the other two that you dont remember

wait...
EWE ISNT A BABY RAM?
oh no hahahhaha
then i got it wrong haha
what is it?

MSU, once again, I feel your pain...I'm Jewish and had absolutely no idea either and omitted it. I despised the verbal section--I did really well on the practice tests (1/4 point taken off, one omitted.) I guess the stress didn't really increase my ability to solve the approximate meanings of unfamiliar words. I think just seeing words I didn't recognize made me stressed.
