SSAT Help

I have the next couple months to get my SSAT score up since I REALLLLY REALLLLLLLLLLLY wanna go to andover or exeter. I’m having most of my trouble with vocab and a little bit with reading. How can I get my SSAT vocab up, since I don’t really have time to read every large novel and look up all the words in it to learn that way. I have about 5 months, so does anyone know any good ways to study. I’m in the 7th grade and am going into 8th.
Thanks,
Bye

Even though I did terrible on the SSAT I will try to help… For vocab try learning the roots words because than it can help narrow down other choices that don’t make sence to the root of the original word.

I’m finding the barron’s 1100 words you need to know really helpful. You can try to find a copy at a library : I first encountered this book at a library. It helps sooooooooooo much.

I used Direct Hits, Volume 1. I’m now using both that book and Volume 2 to prep for the SAT’s (will be a junior this fall). The book essentially gives you words and a paragraph for each that puts it into context. It’s quite helpful and you can learn about 15-20 words a day if you set aside half an hour a day.

In addition to using study books and whatnot, I’d recommend just reading classical english literature, too, looking up every word you do not know. That is good practice for simply reading faster, comprehension, and vocabulary.
