SSAT Help

I’m confused about the SSAT and very worried. I’ve been taking the practice tests on the SSAT site and I’m getting like half the questions wrong:(…I’m in the 8th grade applying to 9th. Am I expected to do better on the practice tests online? Does the practice test give me questions I should know or is it for all upper grade levels?

I’m getting discouraged, and I take the SSAT Jan 7th. I’ve been studying for 6mos, I use the SSAT site tests & online book, Kaplan Book, Wordly Wise, Mathhelp.com tutor, reading a lot.

what parts are you struggling with?

Don’t get discouraged, keep doing all the practice tests that you can. My son found the tests on the official SSAT practice site (the one that costs $49 for about 6 mos access I think?) to be much harder than the actual test. He was getting in the low 700s for verbal and mid 600s for reading, and wound up with an 800 verbal 725 reading on the actual test in October. Good luck, and again just keep plugging away!

Satchelsf- Just wanted to update and say I took the test today and I felt the practice tests on the SSAT site to be harder than the actual test. However the SSAT site never gave me any scores?

I did run out of time for the reading though and missed 5 questions:( also there was an extra portion on the test that the test lady said she’s never seen before. It was like a combination of the entire tests.

@lovinglife1008 that bit on the end is the experimental section. it’s unscored, and i think the questions, if the “experiment” or trial goes well, will be used as questions for a future exam…
and yaay! isnt it wonderful to put the stress of the exam prep behind, and continue with the actual applications? XD

LilyPatrick- Yes, and I don’t think I did as horrible on the original vs the practice. Now I just want the results to hurry  you’d think they should be able to give you the score sooner. Thx

I know! mine took almost two weeks (which were incredibly stressful, admittedly)
