im starting eight grade this year and will be taking the ssat in late november, ive studied some for it and am only truly worried about the vocabulary and analogy section (verbal). ive been using the princeton reveiw book and am almost done with it. what is the best ssat prep book and somebody please tell me how to beter prepare for the ssat and how important it is to schools like lville and exeter and andover etc. thanks.

@schoolkid123,
I’m also starting eighth grade next year. I’m using the Princeton Review book and Kaplan’s book. Princeton Review is really good for the verbal section. It lists vocabulary which often shows up on the SSAT which is really useful for studying. Kaplan’s is really good for math because it explains the answers. Also the Princeton Review practice tests are ridiculously hard. I’d get both because both have their benefits.

I’d read some newspapers and try to apply the words you’ve learned by adding them to your vocabulary. It’s also a good idea to read some books to have as examples for your essay.
