Sorry if this question has already been answered, but I have not found the type of response I am looking for yet! :)

If a student gets staight A's, has amazing EC's but has not the nest SSAT scores, how much will thay affect them getting into schools such as Exeter and Deerfield??

It will depend on where you went to school, what your teacher recs say and who else applies. There isn’t any hard and fast answer – some schools are easier to get a 4.0 at than others, and admissions knows this. Plus – your idea of “amazing ECs” and the admission’s office’s idea of “amazing ECs” may be completely different. It will also depend on how low your ssat scores were.

It depends if the school knows anything of the school you are coming from. If they know the school well it may not matter as much, however if the school has never heard of your school then it may matter significantly more.

Hey,
What about if you SSAT scores are not very good, the math is very good.
Your English grade is a A and toefl is 108,but your reading and verbal in SSAT is very bad.
Is there a chance of getting accepted?

well, lets just say you (ME) got A’s or A+'s in EVERY subject, including Algebra 1, chem, history, eng and french II. And I am an avid ballet dancer- 18-20 hrs per week. I also play on the varsity field hockey team, and am on the swimming team. I also play flute and piano (have been playing for 8 yrs).
My SSAT scores have not come yet, but the verbal is going to be very bad. i know.

what are my chances?? I go to a well known private day/boarding school in MA.

If you already go to a private day/boarding school in MA and that school ends in 8th or 9th grade, your secondary school counselor can give you the best advice on your chances. If your school goes through 12th grade, and a number of students leave for different boarding schools after middle school, then there should be some history about which schools accepted them. You and your parents can do some research. A trusted faculty member might be able to help you as well.

Honestly, the SSAT is important, I mean, that’s why the make you do it and it does reflect what you’ve learned, but grades and teacher recommendations are somewhat better. It also helps if you’ve got killer EC’s, but you should place the SSAT on some higher standard seeing as the test was made for boarding school admissions
