SSAT January 5th

oh! I didnt know a hereford was a type of cattle. just eliminated and got that one right

I think the vocab was definetely my toughest one. Im scared for my scores to come

Good luck to you all! I’m taking my SSAT soon. :/

Does anyone know when we will receive scores for the Jan 5th test?

It usually takes about 2 weeks, so you will receive your scores around the 19th

Actually, I would start checking into the SSAT site on the 14th of Jan. My son has taken the test 2x this year, and in each instance, the scores were posted in 8 days.

If you had a poor verbal score yet the total was still a 96 percentile I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a poor score

^It could have been since she/he aced the rest. AKA 85%+99%+99% averages to a 94. Hm. I don’t know. Her score may have been bad but not the percentile.
Also, I’m really scared! If I fail this, the application is over for me mostly because I can’t take it again. Even if I do get in with a low SSAT score (It’s definitely possible) I wouldn’t feel right because I got in my current school with a 99% ISEE. (My parents would be FUMING if I get anything below a 90. They think the SSAT is THE BIGGEST part of the application, which for many it is.)
Does anyone actually take the ISEE for boarding school?

I am alway shocked when I read that parents are angry if a child “fails” the SSAT (I.e. gets less than 98 percentile)… Seriously? What if that is the best your kid can do… You will be angry with them fr the rest of their life? But I digress…

Guys like honest, the ssat is not a big deal. Trust me, after talking to over 20 admission officers from selective and hidden gem schools, I can safely say that the SSAT will not make you or break you. I mean yeah, if you do well it looks good but if you do bad, they’ll look at 100 different things before they deny you for that score. Then again, i’m also just an applicant but we’ll see what happens on march 9.

Its all about the Gestalt–as I have written on another board. If the SSAT is an outlier it will have less of an impact, but if it is combined with recommendations that suggest that the applicant has worked hard but has no real “upside” potential --bad. Likewise great SSATs but poor grades–the school will want to know why-- lazy or unchallenged?

Just got my scores -
Verbal: 87%
Math: 66%
Reading: 98%

Total: 90%

I’m really upset about the math section. Last year, I scored the highest on math, but for some reason, I really messed up this year. I think it’s because the person giving the test forgot to give us a five minute warning, so I was unable to check my work in one of the math sections. However, I do very well in Geometry Advanced at school, and I have stressed writing and dance during my application, so hopefully my chances aren’t too bad… what do you guys think?

Wow, you’re lucky. I just got mine and my percentile was a 71. You shouldn’t be upset considering yours was good though.

My percentile is 48% (I know its bad) , but the person who interviewed me said that they aren’t looking for SSAT scores when it comes to myself in specific and that it won’t be counted during my admission decision. It’s basically just this essay, but congratulations to everyone who did well !

So – we got a message that scores are in. But when we sign on to SSAT they are not there. Anyone else have this problem? We paid to be notified once they were ready… and we received that notification. Only, they notified us when no scores are there. … grrr.

I had put the score recipients to all the schools I am applying, do you know if it is possible to cancel the score report? And are the GLADCHEMMS going to accpet the SSAT of February?

I believe that the scores go to the schools a day or two before they are sent to you. If you are unhappy with your scores, you can send notes to the schools that you have sent them to, announcing your intent to retake the SSAT. Some may accept the Feb. scores. In the future, it is good to note that you do not have to sign schools up to receive your scores in advance. You can select the schools after the scores have been processed. Good luck!

Got the sms but not scores yet

^Yogadog: annoying, right?

The only school’s that i know accept them Lawrenceille, Andover and Exter accept the February 2nd one.
