SSAT Predicted SAT score: Accurate or not?

I took my SSATs two years ago, in 8th grade, and scored within the 99th percentile. Based on my SSAT score, my SAT scores were predicted to fall within the 790-800 range for all categories. However, I took an informal, brief, practice SAT and scored well below that! I don't remember precisely, but the scores were all somewhere in the 600s. Are the SSAT predicted range score accurate? I did study quite a bit for the SSAT and not at all for the SAT (yet!), could that be the reason there is such a disparity?

Honestly, don’t count on different tests that you took two years ago as a definite showing of what score you will receive. The SAT definitely takes practice, and if you buy the blue book, you will see exactly how your score stacks up.

Plus, it’s pretty difficult to score in the 790-800 range for all categories. Few people receive perfect scores on the SAT.
