My SSAT is in 6 days. I feel confident in math and I am working on verbal. But for some reason I dont know what to do to get my reading comprehension scores up. I took a practice test and i got -5. If i got the same score on the real test what percentile would i be in?

Does anyone have any tips on how to bring reading comprehension scores up?

Also, just curious does anyone know if getting over a 95% on all section of the ssat would help at all in the application process?

getting a high percentile on the ssat guaranties nothing. The schools just want you to take it to see how well you would preform academically in their school. Im not saying that you should not try but once you get over an 80th percentile your pretty safe. Getting in the 95th or above percentile won’t help that much, it is rated the same as the 80th percentile. Unless there is someone else applying with the same stats but a higher ssat score. Also do you mean you got negative 5 question right in the reading section or you got 5 questions wrong?

I agree with funnygirl on the big picture of how SSAT score works in the admission process. But 80% is rated the same as 95%??

When we look at the mean SSAT score of the top schools mentioned frequently here, some schools have lower/mid 90% and most have above 85%. What does it tell us?

A 99% example is often quoted here in order to stress the unpredictability of admission decision and the importance of other factors but is not a minus at all, especially at the top schools.
