I got three A- and a B+ and C+ and I am the class president. I also played soccer for 4 years and was captain this year for varsity. I am in chorus for 4 years. I also do community service outside of school. The only problem is that I got a 47 percentile on the ssat a 2031. I am applying for financial aid. Do I have a chance to get into loomis?

but i improved a lot on the ssat

This is an old thread, so this may not be a useful post anymore, but for those interested in approximating percentiles from scores based on the data set provided, a more accurate approach is to use a polynomial function for the fit.

For the original data set provided, use the ax^2+bx+c formula where

a = -0.000387197
b = 1.826581635
c = -2054.543713

Results in R2 of .9995

Table is:
x y Fit
2331 99 99.36
2262 96 96.03
2259 96 95.81
2235 94 93.73
2175 87 86.59
2163 85 84.82
2067 66 66.70
2049 62 62.51
1971 42 41.45

If anyone has a different or more recent data set correlating scores and percentiles, I’d be happy to run the new numbers. If you want to do it yourself, Excel makes short work of the problem with the Linest function…

As of 2013, the percentile ranks no longer contain international students. Thus, if your formula’s based on pre-2013 data, it’s not valid.

I have taken the test in November. The scores I got is 1860.V scale 578, Q scale 659, R scale 623. How is my percentile rank?

Your specific percentile rank is on your score report. The one the schools look at is age and gender specific. Here is a website that also breaks it down, although I do not know how updated it is:
<a href=“SSAT Percentiles — Ivy Global”>http://ssatprep.com/ssat-percentiles/

Based on this website, 50% scores are 1938: 662 verbal, 647 quantitative, 629 reading. Look at your report for your specific percentile info. Make sure the schools you are applying to are somewhat close to your numbers, or you will be wasting a lot of time, effort and money on those applications. Good luck.

Looking at my D’s report from November, average for 8th grade is 1993, and for 8th grade females 1986. Hope this helps.
