SSAT score Questions

I recently received my ssat score and is wondering if certain schools put more weight on a certain section of the test in admissions. For example, I’ve heard Exeter weighs the math section more heavily than the other two. Is this true? And if so, what scores would be ideal for my application?

Your scores should be in a tight range for the schools typical scores of accepted students. Also consistency is important. Meaning a significantly low score in one section may be a flag. I don’t know about Exeter weighing math more heavily.

Would it be a flag if I have 99% on two sections and a 90% on one?

OMG. No!!

A 99% on 2 sections and a 50% on one would raise a red flag; this example, no.

But would it effect the application at a hyper selective school? Say if a certain school cares a lot about reading/writing and I get a 90% on that exact section or if a school is known for STEM and I get a 90%.

No. There is no cookie-cutter approach for admissions to a “hyper selective” school. SSAT scores are one part, but only one part, of the whole equation.

Alright, thank you very much for the feedback. I was a bit uneasy about it possibly raising an eyebrow.

I have the same question. My ssat scores were in the 97th percentile over all, but my reading score was 77 and my math and verbal was 99. Could you give me feedback on whether this would raise a flag? Thanks!

First, don’t hijack another person’s thread. That’s just rude.

Second, the responses to your question will be no different.
