I have a quick question about SSAT score reporting. If I were to take the test, say, in both October and November 2008, could I choose which score to send? I.e. the higher one? When you register for the SSAT, it seems to have you pay the score reporting fee upfront, so I was wondering if they'd send all your scores.

you can choose not to pay the fees, you pay the fees when you choose what schools your sending it too. the ssat doesn't get sent to schools unless you choose to have it sent-the way it went with me was that i saw what my score was first and decided if i wanted to take it again or if i thought it was good and then decided which schools to send it too-also they only send the scores you choose to the school, your best scores. it is noted on the scores that you took the ssat multiple times, and if the school wants to it can see how you scored on the other ones, but most schools just care about your best score.

You don't have to mark schools when registering. You can wait until after you've seen them. Some schools take the highest of each session, so I'd call and find out. As a matter of fact, the school I called said that their computer system did it automatically, recalculating percentiles in the process. Unless you plan on bombing it, I'd go ahead and send them when you register to save a few bucks. (It costs extra to send them after the fact, unless you sign up for the package thing....I think, but please verify this on their website.)

But to answer your question directly, yes...you can pick which one. You will just show as a mulitple test-taker. So, if you opt to send the second set of scores, they won't see the first scores, just that you've taken it before.

Sorry for the redundancies.

NB: Exeter(And I am sure a few other schools) will not accept your results unless the SSAT sends them directly. No Fax option.

Thanks guys for the input.

Order the "Web Service Bundle" when you register- it's the most cost-effective way to manage score reporting. And hold off on reporting until you have a set of scores that you like the best.

Do be aware, however, that schools will see that multiple tests have been taken (it says so on the score report) and that schools do have the right to ask to see all other scores. That said, I have never heard of schools doing that but FYI...
