SSAT Scores-Percentiles

Hello, I got my SSAT scores back a couple weeks ago and am applying to Phillips Exeter Academy. Would these scores make me competetive enough?

Reading-74th Percentile

Math-77th Percentile

Verbal-91st Percentile

Overall Score- 86th Percentile

Thoughts? Please comment!

Anything above 85% makes you competitive at any school, even those at the top. For most the schools, you’d already by above-average SSAT-wise. Like every other CC’er, I bet you have good stats and everything else so you have a good shot, like every other CC’er. Keep your grades up and wait it out.

It’s a mediocre score. It won’t knock you out, but since you’re done with the other parts of your app already, there’s no shame or wasted time in retaking (if you think you can do better)

Call the school and ask if they accept February SSAT.

Thanks-Btw-One more Question. Can I send in my second marking-period grades (we have four) in to Exeter? Although I did Excellent the first one, i’m positive I did better this time. What do You think?

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies, but my tour guide told me what Alexmac said, so I won’t retake. I just REALLY want to get in, like every other CC’er. :)

@Exeterrr,
I think you can send in your second marking period grades. Exeter’s admission office seemed really nice about that kind of stuff. Good luck and your SSAT score is fine.

Thanks for the help!!!

I was thinking of sending in my second marking period grades too.

hope we get in :)

:D Me too! I have a random question, and although it might seem strange as I have not yet been accepted, I am curious, so here goes-

Should pack my “regular” clothing to Exeter with me? Hah! I also wanted to bring a few posters and such. Would that be O.K? Thanks for the help!

And intrinsically, if we both get in, let’s meet each other come March 10th! It’s always good to have friends before even getting to school. ;)

Now, Exeterr, March 10th isn’t here yet, don’t go off on a tangent too soon. I love to fantasize, but lately I’ve been internally urging myself not to, because it’s all uncertain and I wouldn’t want to let myself down. If I were to get in, well, that would be an honor and a dream come true.

And then we could meet. :)

I think I have a big chance of waitlist though…

No! Don’t think like that either! ;)

Are you applying to other schools besides PEA?

No, and I don’t want to bore you, but here is why-
I applied to a scholarship from a certain company that “confronted” me via my principal. It was a scholarship to many schools if I was accepted, and I thought I would go to a Prep school in the state that I live in. I was not accepted, but was contacted by PEA and was encouraged to apply. I “passed” the first “level” of the scholarship, I was told, but had “failed” the next one. I was excited, but at the time, did not know what PEA was or, for that matter, boarding school at all. I read on the internet and learned all I could. I then applied, and only recently, when I made an account on CC, had I learned about Andover, Hotchkiss, etc… I have, although, researched about other schools, and since then and even more after my interview, I love Exeter more. I hope to be accepted this time!!! :D

I hope your essays to Exeter are better than your explanation. I was ‘confronted’ via my principal. What is the name of the company, Soprano Inc.

I’ll just try not to expect anything at all, and think about other things. :)

Thats better! I have trouble with the thought that I can be rejected, though! ;)

^good luck with not thinking about it… Lol :)

Thanks… Hah. I wonder if I will be able to stay home from school come March 10th!

Lol… Hey would you mind chancing me please? It makes this whole thing more bearable to know what others think…thanks !
