SSAT Tips?? I need help

Hey everyone!

I’m taking the SSAT this Saturday (I know kinda late to ask) and in November.
If anyone has any vocabulary lists or tips… Let me know ASAP cuz I’m pretty worried… right now my scores are 99% in math and something like 83% in verbal and reading… If you have any tips, I would appreciate it so much given that I know I’m applying to Exeter and Middlesex (and definitely more, I still need to do tours)…they both have high SSAT…But anything you can do to help will help a lot!

Thank you so much!!!

Please

For this Saturday I think you should get good rest each night and make sure you are eating healthy food and keeping yourself hydrated. Plan what you are going to wear and have everything ready the night before so that the morning is smooth and stress free. Also remember that the test is just one facet of your application. Good luck!

One thing that was is really important that I can’t stress enough is SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP. I know that your first instinct is to stay up and study or review a lot of information but I can tell you for a fact this will not help. Studies have shown that to get good sleep you need to start getting 8-10 hours of sleep every night for three days before whatever is happening (in this case the ssat) GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the tips! I just took it and I hope I did well!

@bumblebee1212 I don’t really have any advice but I have a question since you took the SSAT already…how hard is the hardest Verbal Synonym and Analogy because Verbal is my weakest subject and I have no idea about the level of words I should be studying.

Same I just study Greek and Latin roots but so far it hasn’t really helped me.

Hi all!

I took the October SSAT as well. I’m not allowed to disclose the exact questions that were on the test (as that is considered cheating), but I will say that the practice tests on The Official Guide to the SSAT (by the SSAT board) are very similar in difficulty.

@HhopefulFforSsuccess2021 the level of the words you should be studying are around SAT level… but I know that the Princeton Review’s SSAT prep book has a huge list of words to study that I found almost all the vocab on the actual SSAT to be on.

I also agree with the previous responses to the OP. SLEEP is very important, and you should get a good night’s sleep for at least 2 days in a row before the test. A good breakfast is also key, and make sure to bring your snacks and water to the test center on test day (believe me, the adrenaline will make your throat feel like the Saharan Desert after the Reading section).

Hope this helped,
