Do the schools give more weight to one over the other during admissions. I see a lot of discussion when I talk to folks about taking the SSAT but not much about the ISEE. Would my child be at an advantage/disadvantage taking one over the other.

Some schools require one or the other. Other schools state that they will accept either. I’d take them at their word - if they say that either test will do, it shouldn’t make any difference which one your child does.

I may be wrong, but my assumption was that day schools favor the ISEE so BSs will take it so that the kids who are applying to both don’t have to take 2 tests. Again, I could be wrong.

The schools my son applied to clearly wanted the SSAT, so I would check with the schools you are applying to. Better safe than sorry!

It usually says on the school website which test they prefer, I believe most do prefer SSAT.

Not true from what I can see. Although some of the NE schools do not mention the ISEE at all or state expressly that it is not accepted, what I’ve found in looking through the admissions requirements of several of the more popular schools is that they accept “either the SSAT or the ISEE,” with no preference stated.

All 4 of our schools took the ISEE even where they preferred the SSAT. They told us very clearly that there was no need for S to talk more than one (since he was taking ISEE for day school applications).
