SSAT vs ISEE

as someone who is considering her applications to bs, I’ve seen many people share their SSAT scores but not their ISEE scores. Which do you recommend? (x test is focused on English or y test is focused on math etc…)

Generally speaking, ISEE is for day schools, while SSAT is for boarding schools. I don’t know why.

It doesn’t matter. If you want, take a practice test for both and see if one produces a significantly higher score. If not, SSAT is more common amongst BS applicants, but I’ve yet to see anything suggesting that AOs prefer one over the other.

Also, I’m fairly certain schools will only accept scores from the year that you’re applying (someone please correct me if I’m wrong), so taking the SSAT before you’ve even began 7th grade when you won’t be applying until halfway through 8th is slightly premature. You are likely to increase your reading and math abilities over the next year, so any score you get currently won’t be reflective of scores you may receive in over a year from now.

Many take both. If they take both, take the one you are more comfortable with. If they don’t, take the one they accept. Once you come up with your first list of schools you are interested in, make sure you understand what test, if any, the school requires.

Take some practice tests and see which one you like better.
