SSAT vs. ISEE

Most boarding schools require the SSATs while many day schools in New York City require ISEEs. Does anyone know whether boarding schools will generally accept ISEEs or will they require applicants to both day and boarding schools to take both tests?

most boarding schools accept the isee in place of the ssat. I don't know if there are any huge differences on the tests other than the ssat has analogies, isee has sentance endings.

Most people take the SSAT so they prefer it because the percentile lets them compare you to the other applicants while the ISEE doesn't. It just gives you the score. But the ISEE gives you more time in some sections and has less questions.

ISEE sounds easier (no analogies!), but I think the SSAT is more prevalent

More than anything, bs may prefer the ssat simply because they have a relationship with the company and have already bought their complete data package. The schools track all this information. The company provides them with data that ranks your score, not just with ssat takers within the past three years, but the scores of the students who have been accepted at the school to which you are applying, etc.

The choice of the ssat for BS may be something as simply as product packaging and available services to the schools and have nothing to do with the content of the test.

There is information about all this on the ssat website but you really have to dig for it. There is also an old link thread that has a summary of what the schools get in it.
