Ssp

Thanks for bringing back that link simfish
I read it before, but its still an interesting little thread

No prob.

Anyways, here is a link to previous SSP class pages:

http://www.summerscience.org/alumni/links.php

Glad I could be of assistance, guys. Yeah...sorry about the food. It's managable if you're not a picky eater and I usually found one thing I liked at the hot bar and then just took stockpiles of cold turkey from the sandwich bar. Appetizing, I'm sure. It might be better this year, you never know.
Ladros, I'm not going to get to go to reunion this year. RSI runs straight through SSP, and I don't think I can hop from Boston to Socorro without my absence being noticed. I'm really sad about that; it would have been fun to meet all you new SSPers and get to see all my buds from last year again. Ah, well. I think Marshall Fox from my year is going to be there. So if you see him, tell him I said uber uber hi (he's really awesome...and he's the only person from my year who I know is going). Actually, if you see anyone from last year, tell them I said hi, because they're all really awesome.
Simfish, I think Jameson was one of the main reasons I survived the SSP food. He railed so much on it, but I couldn't help but think that my predicament wasn't as bad as his. Good comic relief, that Jameson.

Sorry, guys, I haven't been on the forum in forever...I'm blaming the scary AP tests of doom which are frightening me terribly at the moment. :-)

Astrowanna, all of that info was absolutely awesome!!! Thanks so much!!! I'm kinda freaked out about the food now, of course, because I'm a vegetarian... I might have to bring a huge bag of pecans with me, and live off of them :-) Do they let you use a refrigerator? I was thinking I could probably buy soy patty fake-meat things from Wal-Mart and live off of them as well, they're awesome...

I want to pose a totally random question to all of you on this thread: Is anyone going to SSP also going to ISEF (besides rahrah, of course)? I just thought, it would be awesome if a few of you were and we could meet each other there...

And, btw Ladros, I just checked out your website, and it's really cool :-) I like your pic; I've really been wanting to know what some of you look like, so I'll recognise you, I guess, when I get to ssp.

Nice talking to you all :-)

hey tweetletwoot,
don't worry about ap tests, they aren't so bad and im sure you will do great on them

for the rest of you
ill get my pic on that site soon too, so that you may all recognize the horribly disfigured/maimed asian kid as ssp socorro...

Hey everybody. AP's are upon all of us, but hey, look at it this way, in less than 2 months guess where we'll be? :)

Geeta, I forgot that you are going to RSI this year. I hope you have fun there and that you create another "SSP- like" experience for yourself. I'll say hi to Marshall if he goes to the reunion. It's funny, because after going through all the class sites I actually know who he is.

Tweetle, thanks for the comment about the site. I know the idea is cool, but I want our own domain and more webspace. Freewebs isn't living up to my standards right now. And I am not going to ISEF in addition to SSP.

Ahh...it seems as if we have really bonded here, not to sound totally cheesy. Just imagine what we'll be like at SSP, wow. I think before we go off to Socorro we should send each other some pics and info, that way we can recognize each other there. I'm really looking forward to these 6 weeks. Even if the entire program is the bust and everything doesn't live up to standards (Of course this won't happen), we'll all be going through it together.

Anyone else who is going to Socorro, would you like to send me a pic to post on the site? Aimx54@google.com

Hope to see you all soon. Keep chattin'!

tweetletwoot, I wish you luck. ;P No, but seriously, it'll be okay. My year they allowed you to bring whatever you wanted (although they discouraged personal laptops). One of the guys last year brought a fridge and a microwave. So I assume it's permissible, although you'll have to bring your own.

Ladros, thanks for the RSI wishes. You're right that you guys will really bond at SSP. The thing that I think I'll remember most about SSP is the people I met and the relationships that I made, which is saying a lot considering the quality of the program and the intensity of the experience.

I know you guys will have a great time. I wish you all the best of luck with getting your exposures during the first 3 weeks and measuring your exposures in less than 8 hours and getting your orbit determination done in time!
Snaps for SSP!

I can't wait!!!! It sounds so awesome!!

Though I haven't been to ssp yet, astrowanna, I think I have to agree with you majorly on one point...I think the best part of ssp will be the social experience of making awesome new friends (or, as it may happen, deepening CC bonds ;-). It's going to be incredibly fun.

Ladros...I'm thinking I'm going to try and find a pic of rahrah and I together, and ask her if I can send it to you for the site...lol, I think it would be cute. We have a ton of pics with us leaning over my telescope...it would be thematic. :-)

tweetletwoot, im fine with it as long as you think it is a good idea...and as long as it is a good picture of me. :-)

Ladros: woah, how'd you get a @google email?

For buncha free webspace, try www.000k.com, although i'm not sure if they're still offering, and if the admission process works.

Also, I just got my letter and packet and stuff,a nd WOO! happy bout that.

ALSO, how many poeple already know each other? And from where are we all hailing?

YET ONCE MORE AGAIN FREAKING ALSO, to the top, ye olde thread

Oh nevermind, 000k stopped giving away. Curses.

southern california-diamond bar high
good job for bringing the thread back up btw

Hey Dmitriy_Y,

google email? My friend gave it to me about a year ago. It gives you about 2150mb of space and they add more. If you need one, give me your email and I'll invite you. I have about 50 invites. If anyone else needs one, just email me with the proper subject. It kind of dumb how some people will actually SELL them.

Isn't the student handbook exciting? I looked through it everyday when I first got it. You need to bring so much stuff. Wonder how many suitcases the airlines will let me bring. Let's see, if you had read the priors posts to this thread, I think you would have inferred that Juzam -Djinn and I already know each other. (If you don't know, yes, we know each other.) We hail from Southern California and for me, I am very happy that I can escape this packed town for 6 weeks in the summer. Can't Wait.

Everyone let's keep posting, and let's get to know each other a bit.

Strider

Aimx54@google.com

is google e-mail supposed to be free?? i would like to get one if so-!

sure thing fellow ssp'er
pm me ur email and ill invite u

Well, I though Gmail, google's email service, was @gmail.com, I didn't know it could also be routed by @google.com. Weird.

So yeah, let's post and get to know each other.

Whoops. Haha I didn't even notice. Your're right, it is @gmail. On my favorites menu for Internet Explorer it saved my email link as "Aimx54@google.com Inbox" for some reason, and I would just copy and paste that. I didn't even notice the error. Anyways, if anyone needs one email me at Aimx54@gmail.com or PM J_D for one.

So, where does everyone else hail from? I know there's definitely going to be some out of country students.

I think most of you guys already know this, but I'm from Taiwan.

I'm from Korea, but studying in the U.S.

slightly complicated combination;;

sigh, are you from Taiwan, studying in the U.S., or are you in Taiwan?

I can't wait to meet the international people!! :-) I'm from the U.S., Oklahoma...New Mexico is right next to me :-)
