Only four classes I'm gonna need way more if I plan on being an engineering.

Would this be for your first semester? If so, then yes, they normally allow you to take a certain number of credits for that semester. As far as I know that limit is not 14 credits. I’m sure it is possible to gain a waiver to this, however, if you speak with the registrar.

i’m an entering freshman and my profile says that i am allowed to take a maximum of 17 credits so its definitely not 14.I’m sure you can get a waiver anyway

The program’s paper says no more then more classes and 14 credit hrs. I’m not sure what fourteen can do for me because I wanted to take alittle Business,Philosophy, and maybe a Bio class. I want to really explore my options and taking 4 classes is nothing.

Calc 1
Physics
General Chem
Whatever extra class gets me prepared for engineering.
Then maybe after that I’ll have like 1-2 credits left to take some lame class.

SSS? I thought that was limited to 7 credits or something? I’m not at all familiar with the program, so I can’t really say much about it.

You’ll do the same thing everybody else in engineering does… take classes over the course of 4 years with little flexibility and graduate with a degree in engineering. There is some room for flexibility and other courses, but engineering is really not conducive to that sort of thing.

For reference, this is the SSS website: [Student Support Services (SSS) :: Undergraduate Admissions :: University of Connecticut](http://admissions.uconn.edu/programs/sss.php)

Did you call the registrar and ask them about your credit limit?

Midknite: which one are you going? U Conn of SUNY Buffalo?

UCONN most likely since the aid from Buffalo was trash, though it pay about 75% of the bill it was mostly loans.

I just wanted a choice, I applied to many schools and only one really gets back to me while the other wait until late april to tell me I’m on a list or still haven’t sent in aid, or telling me whether they require forms or not.

UCONN seemed to be the only college that cared.

I was talking about freshman year. On a paper they sent me it states I must take no more than 14 credit hours my freshman year.

After talking to an advisor, he told me that I should take no more the fourteen because we would need to chill and more is overwhelming.

I thought that since we did the program. We’d be prepared for more challenging work, but I guess that they don’t want us messing up our freshman year.

I heard I can take calc one, but that still now I gotta take first yr experience, intro to engineering and some other class.

I still think I need more credits.

My son attended orientation and registered for 17 credits for first semester freshman year. I thought this was a little steep, but it’s was his Advisor recommended. He will be in the School of Engineering for Computer Science, and he is registered to take Chem, Chem Lab, Calc, English, Computer Science, Computer Science Lab, First Year Experience, and Intro to Engineering.

Yes, school of engineering students typically need to take more than 15 credits a semester to graduate within four years.

Is it true that freshmen have to wait till orientation to register classes? The system won’t allow registering classes “error message indicating account on hold” Also, classes are filled quickly, I am worried that can sign up classes of choice

D just completed orientation that’s when you can register for your classes. If you don’t register during orientation, then I don’t think you can register until it opens for everyone some time in July.

Thanks. My S oreintation is end of the month I worried that the classes he inerested will be full
