I've seen the numbers on how selective the St. Andrews International Honors program is, but I was wondering if admission is based more on academics or interest? On academics, I'm good, but not amazing. BUT, I write good essays, and I'm really looking forward to the 1500-word one. Plus, I have a pretty good list of ECs. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Our process for admitting students to the St Andrews program will be similar to our process for admitting students to W&M. It will be a holistic review of a student’s academic and personal qualities as well as the interest demonstrated in the programme and the particular discipline to which you’re applying (determined via the 1500-word essay). We will not be admitting anyone to St Andrews who would not be admissable to W&M. If admissable to W&M and we believe they’re the most competitive student in the St Andrews pool (based on a review of academics, personal qualities and their interest in the subject) they’ll be admitted.

This is our first year with this programme so we’ll know a bit more next year once one cycle has come and gone.
