does anyone know anything aboyut the prestige and admissions at u of st. andrews in scotlan

LOL my parents were just talking about this...i dont think it has any prestige value out of england..it is famous because Prince Charles' son went there, is that correct?

i think it does have prestige value because of Prince Charles's son, but otherwise it would have none. Personally, I think it is overrated, and on many other threads, many people have agreed that it is overrated. It is not a top tier university in the UK.

7th best in the UK is not "top tier"?

Well you have to distinguish between toptier and prestigious, since not all prestigious British schools are also toptier, and you can't really rely on league tables (Times, Guardian) since one year they might rank a college 20th and the next it's in the top 5. St Andrew's is a prestigious university, because of its age (founded 1400s??) and because it is a popular college for public (that is, elite private) and independent/private school students.

morningtheft:
i'm just saying that st. andrew's is not at the same level as Oxbridge, LSE, UCL, etc. i'm not relying on any rankings or tables.

What I know is it's the first university founded in Scotland (in 1413). And it's on the shore, so scenery should be quite nice.
