Hello! I applied to the University of St. Andrews in Mid-October to study IR and have not heard back… just wanted a place where other applicants could chat about admissions. Has anyone else gotten their admissions decisions?
Same situation for me.
At least 4 st andrews threads in the UK forum.
Has anyone who applied to IR heard back?!?!?!?
Many posts about this in the UK forum.
Any updates?
@VickiSoCal - which UK forums do u follow? I’m on The Student Room following the Comp Sci 2017 Hopefuls as well as the the five schools my D applied to.
I meant this forum. This post was moved here from the general admission forum.
Hi,
I submitted my app on 11/3 and I just heard back this Monday (11/12). I hope you all hear back soon!
@spicykale- that’s great- what course did you apply for?
Does anyone know if it is easier or harder to get into one major vs another as an American student? Someone told my son not to apply to International Relations even though that is what he wants to study because they said it is the hardest major to get into and it is very easy to transfer once you get there. Anyone thoughts??
Has anyone heard back??? I’m still waiting, and frankly, this has gone from bothersome to ridiculous. I should have heard by Thanksgiving. No American university would ever place a promise on their site, and go back on it without even CONTACTING the applicants. I have lost major respect for St. A’s and may accept my offer from U Michigan instead of this tedious waiting from an institution that has proven to me that they are disorganized and fail to communicate with prospective students.
@lourveamerican, I think that accepting your UMi place is a very good decision. By UK standards, STAs is a very student-responsive and administratively organized uni. This is very much the sort of thing that you should expect, not just during the application process, but for the duration of your involvement. I am being deadly serious: the communication will not get better, and if this is unacceptable to you, you should go where they will do things in a way that is acceptable to you.
Thank you! International relations
@lourveamerican hi, I’ve actually been accepted for the International relations course, 2 weeks ago. I emailed after the 4 weeks and they said that they had gotten an increased amount of applications, and we’re having trouble keeping up. @college curious in actuality while international relations in a difficult major to get into, it is very doable! @spicykale did you get an unconditional, and are you going to firm?
Got into IR + Econ program which shocked me, got a “conditional” but it’s just to send them my SAT 2 scores that I previously forgot to send.
Was accepted unconditionally on January 28th for IR. I applied December 6th if that helps
