Wondering if any American students have heard back from St Andrews whether it be an unconditional offer, conditional offer, or rejection. Post stats too if you want!
Not yet.
When did you apply? Do you think we’ll start to hear back soon?
September. Hopefully
Hey, I am an American applying IR and Modern History. I applied in September as well. Still waiting to hear back, according to the website it should be within the next 2 weeks
DD just got an unconditional offer from St.Andrews today for Psychology
Congrats @montefiore got an email form St. Andrews and got excited, but it was just a portal login.
Thank you! I think they’re now actively reviewing the applications
Congrats to your D, @montefiore! Is she going to firm it, or is she waiting to see what other choices she has?
When I received the email confirming their receipt of my application, it said “Please be aware the University does not make decisions on applications until tuition fee status has been confirmed.” I received the fee email, but it didn’t say anything about confirming so I just let it be. Anyways, I was wondering if/how I need to confirm my fee status. Thanks!
You don’t need to do anything. I think that just means they have to internally confirm your status as a Scottish student, international student or EU student. AS long as you filled out your side correctly you should be ok.
@collegemom3717 Thank you! She’s leaning towards King’s now ( got an offer from them too today) and still waiting to hear from Oxford and Edinburgh.
It’s a wonderful thing to have an unconditional offer in your pocket at this stage. Oxford interview invites should be going out in the next week or so (in our house it was the day before Thanksgiving…).
@collegemom3717 - thank you for the info! We’re all very anxious at this point…
There’s clearly no rhyme or reason as we have heard from Edinburgh but not St. A.
It doesn’t help much, but remember that admissions in the UK are done by the subject area, not a central admissions office, so students applying on the same day to the same university for different subjects can hear at very different times.
I’m particularity anxious as we are visiting Thanksgiving week and would prefer to visit schools where she is going to get an offer!
If you applied in Sep you should be confident of hearing before Thanksgiving, especially if the minimum academic requirements are meet.
Not necessarily true, elguapo1- Edinburgh is typically fast out the gate, but for some subjects not so much. St A’s is (in my experience) wildly uneven, and I have seen some unis not come back with a response until spring, even for very well qualified students. A,lso not meeting the minimum requirements is likely to result in a faster response- but it will be a ‘no’.
Trust me… if I had read one more book in college I would be a doctor!
