When will the decisions concerning acceptances/rejections for this program be released? Were they sent out with the e-mail already and if we did not receive any news concerning it, should we assume we were not considered?

[W&M Blogs Decisions Decisions: St Andrews W&M Joint Degree Programme Edition](http://blogs.wm.edu/2011/03/29/decisions-decisions-st-andrews-wm-joint-degree-programme-edition/)

edwin, those denied or waitlisted for the joint degree program were emailed those decisions on Monday night. Those admitted to the joint degree program will receive that decision via snail mail. If you read between the lines of this post you’ll be able to decipher your decision. There may be lots of “Good Things” headed your way

Perhaps it’s just me, but I couldn’t find any information on the website regarding how many students would be admitted to this program and what the breakdowns would be between majors. (My kids are just starting high school but this program sounds terrific! I"D like to apply!)
Are there any stats you can provide – how many applied? how many accepted?

momzie, this is the first year of the program so the stats for this year are likely not indicative of what stats will be serveral years from now.

We had just over 200 students apply and the admission rate was roughly equal to W&M’s overall admission rate (approximately 33%). That does vary within major. IR is certainly the most popular major and therefore competition for those spots was stiffer than for some of the other majors.

What if in the normal application cycle one was admitted to both W&M and St. Andrews independent of one another? Could one construct the IR program between the two (assuming matriculation at W&M) with a bureaucratic nod, or must one actually go through the formal steps of applying?

placido, not sure we understand your question. If you’re asking what happens if you apply to both W&M and St Andrews but not the joint degree program can you then construct a joint degree between the two the answer is no. This is a special program to which you have to apply.

At W&M you can study abroad at St Andrews but you can only get the joint degree if you apply specifically to that program

Just wondering, could someone apply to two majors under the St. Andrews program, I know you cant double major, but can you apply to say IR and Econ then pick which one as if you were applying to two separate colleges

Not at this time. This year applicntc could apply to only one major for the St Andrews program. We need to ensure that students are passionate about the major they’re choosing since the study is more in-depth than the typical American curriculum

Any idea when waitlisted students will get their decision notification? Really want to do this program and can’t wait!

@priyavirgo95, we won’t have any updates until after May 1 when we have a chance to assess the response of those who were offered admission to the program. And it could be well into May or June before all the dusts settles.
