Does anyone know how competitive the BSC Psych course is at St Andrews? I have a 35 composite ACT, 3.3 GPA, subject tests and AP scores are on the way. Anyone know if I stand a chance?
Impossible to predict without AP and subject tests. They are the most important factor. The program is relatively competitive. You should be able to find admission statistics on the uni webpage.
What do you/will have for math?
What @jupiter98 said. Meet the criteria on the web page, do a decent Personal Statement and you are likely to be in good shape.
@jupiter98 I have a 660 in Math 2, I am also an international applicant
I also plan to take SAT Biology as well as APs Calc, English Literature, and Studio Art @jupiter98
I know St. Andrews wants 700+ in prereq subject tests. Not sure if math is a prereq for Psych, it very well could be. Did you check?
Don’t buy into the notion that international applicants get in with bare minimum requirements. You might want to consider Psych with another subject as a second option, just to be safe.
@jupiter98 I have confirmed that BSC in Psych has no prerequisites, and I am also looking into Chemistry as a second choice
^^ that is good news
You might be able to get an unconditional offer, if you take two subject tests and score above 650 in November or December. By second choice I meant Psychology and (Philosophy or Linguistics or something else - joint degree).
You will have a tough time justifying Chem and Psych in one application. Think twice.
Good luck!
My kid applied with 2350 SAT, 2 APs (one in Psych) with grade 5 and several SATs higher than 700. They also requested High School transcripts and High School Profile by email
