St. Andrews Vs Webb School

Hi Everyone,

I am a current Grade 9 student who has acceptances from St. Andrew’s School in Delaware, Webb School in California, Blair Academy and NMH. The last two are ruled out since they are not offering me a good FA package. For me, the choice is between SAS and Webb. From the outside, both seem to be great schools. We have not visited the schools yet but would likely visit SAS during their revisit day. My parents are more keen on SAS since the school seems to be focused a lot on values etc. Webb looks like a great place with awesome college placements, but my parents are concerned that its stress on academics are too strong than anything else. Does anyone here know much Webb and how it compares to St Andrews? There is a lot of information on CC on SAS but little on Webb…

Thanks!

Webb is a fine school, not in the same league as STA in my view, but plenty of people might say differently. This might be one of those situations, assuming that you live on one of the coasts, where you purposely go across the country for a different cultural education.

The one Webb student we know reports being happy and not at all stressed by the academics or otherwise, but that may speak more to this student’s personality and strong academic aptitude more than the school as a whole. My understanding is that most of the 9th and 10th grade classes are taught in single-sex environments, which would be a pretty significant differentiating factor.
