St. Andrews????

I'm a 3.0-3.5 student. I graduate high school this year. I'm planning on going to a CC near where I live. I would really love to go to St. Andrews. I haven't taken the SATs yet but I will probably take them during the summer or fall. What do you think my chances at getting into St. Andrews? Does anyone have any tips for getting in?

St. Andrew’s in Scotland?

yeah, I’m sorry I meant to say that. I’m talking about St. Andrews University in scotland

Please help

In my neighborhood, the kids who go to St.Andrews have parents with money to spend and aren’t overly strong academically. It seems like a very attractive place to get an education to me. Sorry I don’t have any more specific information.

It is spelled out clearly here:

[Direct applications | University of St Andrews](http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/admissions/int/northamericanapplicants/Directapplications/)

I read that on their website. I was hoping somebody might have more in depth info.

How much more in depth can we be? It tells you what you need on that page…

A little firsthand experience would be nice.

For what it’s worth, St Andrews normally wants at least a 1950 SAT and 3.3 GPA.

I just know that St. Andrew’s is probably the fourth most prestigious school in the UK, so there are official entrance “requirements” as mentioned above.

When applying to Edinburgh they said that you need a minimum of a 3.0 to even be considered, but I’m not sure about St. Andrew’s.

Definitely not. Top 10 maybe, but not top 4. I say this because I can think of at least four stronger universities (Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, and Imperial).

St Andrews is sort of the WUStL of the UK.

Aside from being highly ranked, I can’t think of much that WUStL and St Andrews have in common.

The LSE and Imperial are specialist institutions that focus on social science and technology. St Andrews is currently ranked fifth and is often viewed as the main comprehensive university to rival Oxford and Cambridge.

They both recently enjoyed a massive boom in popularity due to publicity (WUStL through scholarships and advertising, St Andrews through Prince William and recruiting Americans).
