St.George's (ri) vs Westminster (ct)? Which school do you think is better and why?

If you have to think about it, then Westminster.

No one school is just “better” than the other. Do some research and see what YOU like.

We liked both schools; there are positives and negatives to each. We chose a different school in the end. This is one family’s experience, your results/opinions will probably vary:

St George’s:
positive:
- stronger academics
- great location (and surfing)
- the old dining room
- met great people
Negative (or not so positive): - physical plant might need repair
- seemed not as strong in athletics (at least in D2’s sports)
- seemed to not implement a coherent vision

Westie:
positive:
- Grit and Grace, and they mean it and live it; very coherent
- lots of new solid physical plant
- athletics
negative (or not so positive) - felt academics were more middle of the road
- don’t like the architecture / color
- didn’t get a good feeling for the people one way or the other

We preferred St George’s … but it still wasn’t the right fit for us.

@steelguy thank you so much for your insightful comment! It’s really nice to see the comparison of these two schools from your perspective. May I ask which different school you chose at the end?

2 D is very different than #1 D, so we thought she’d go somewhere else. But she’s decided to go to Groton as well and create her own path there.

@steelguy that’s great! Groton is a wonderful school
