St. Jame's School.

St. James School ( sorry, naughty fingers made a typo in the thread title, pretty embarrassing, as my son is named James :D ). In Maryland. This is what I know: the oldest Episcopal boarding school in the nation. A very small coed school with SAT scores in the top twenty, according to boardingschoolreview.com

Any one here familiar with it?

no, but it sounds like Kent South. Bringing this back up, as I am very interested in this school.

I had never heard of this school, but I went on its website and it seems like its a real gem. Not focused on rankings, but does anyone know how it fares in the various rankings against the likes of Groton and SPS and St. George’s.

We looked briefly at St. James, and are close with a family whose 2 girls attended St. James a few years ago. The headmaster is apparently a dynamic, fantastic guy. Adored by alum and current parents. The school pulls heavily from local areas, and so it tends to get very quiet on weekends, as 25% are day students and probably another 25% or more are locals who visit home on weekends. There is a religious bent, with required chapel - again a bit different from Mercersburg and other similar mid-Atlantic schools. College placement is strong. I don’t know about rankings…

That’s good to hear. I grew up in Annapolis, and lots of my family still lives there, so family (even if not immediate) is close which is a draw for sure. This is a definite serious contender for this kid. Thanks for the info.

@preppedparent its not really in the same class as the schools you mentioned. 56% acceptance rate, 26 average ACT and 1835 average SAT.
