If you have any experience with fin aid at these schools, I'd like to know how need and non-need based aid is. My D is applying to pharmacy, is Catholic, EFC of $1-2K (possibly 0), and UW gpa of 3.9. She estimates SATs at 1300, ACT at 28-30. I need to make some financial decisions soon and don't want to leave her cut short! I believe her NY Tap award will be $5K for St John's and ACP, with Pell guesstimated at $3800. I can't find alot of info on (non loan) institutional aid. Thank you!

Duquesne - my daughter applied and was accepted into their nursing program.
Your daughter should expect a very nice merit scholarship from them.
My d's package included a merit scholarship, financial aid grant, stafford loan, and a nursing loan. She didn't qualify for federal grants but it sounds like your daughter may.
For a private school they did very well. They didn't meet all of her "need" but it would not have been much more out of pocket to attend a state univeristy (Bloomsburg). My gut feeling is they will try hard to get your daughter.

Thanks, Mo4 - I'm hoping she'll choose Duquesne or St John's as I want her to have more choice for electives and other programs to transfer into in case she changes her mind about pharmacy in the next two years. So you think Duquesne's merit awards would at least offset the loss of the TAP award?

Also, we're planning to visit Duquesne in the next month or two. Do you have any recommendations for a hotel nearby? I'd like to go down a day early so she can get a sense of the city itself but I'm not a great city driver!
Thanks!
