I am not sure how the scholarships are determined at St. John’s. I assume it is the your GPA, test scores, national merit, rigor of your program, rank, extracurricular activities, etc. I took or am taking 9 AP classes and the remainder were honors classes with the exception of art, speech. etc. My school is one of the top in my state. My school does not rank so I don’t know my rank but I would guess in the top 5%.
I also think that every school determines their UW and W GPA’s differently. My school only weights AP classes, not honors classes. A 100 in an AP Classes on a weighted scale, at my school, would be a 5.0. No one at my school can have a 5.0 since you cannot take all AP classes. I know some people have a 5.2 UW so they must have a different scale.
From what I understand every college and university puts the grades in their scale so that everyone is on an even playing field. Therefore somone with a 4.0 or a 94% W, might be a 3.2 UWor lower for example. I hope that helps.

Thanks. Also, my senior year mid-year GPA = 94.94 weighted. How do you convert that to a 4.0 scale weighted and unweighted? Can anyone else chance me???

What are my chances…? Great extracurricular activities. Good community service. Excellent essay. Average is a 94… or a 4.0. SAT is a 1600… but retaking and aiming above 1750. What do you guys think?

hi i like to know what are my chances of getting into the st john’s pharmd program and possible scholarships

weighted gpa: 100.10
sat: 1920 expecting to increase
extracurricular: tutor younger kids, babysit, work at restaurants, volunteered at restaurants for over 500 hours
disadvantage: no ap classes but all honors no clubs

im expecting my sat to be over a 2,000 and does st john’s look that closely at extracurriculars

Lilac519, I think you have a good chance. You have a high GPA and a good SAT score. I don’t know how closely they look at ECs. My son had a p/t job and volunteered, but nothing in the medical field, didn’t do clubs or sports and was accepted. He did have APs, all 5s and a 4, though. The better your GPA and SAT score, the better the scholarship. Good luck to you!

lilac519, he had a 103.17 weighted GPA, 2190 SAT score and received a $21,000 scholarship. One of his roommates had a 1600 SAT score (in Math and Reading) and got a full scholarship. Have you heard anything from St. John’s yet?

katch614, i haven’t actually applied yet since im only a junior but do st johns pharmd only look at math and reading? for a sat of 2190 $21000 sounds a bit low. ive got no idea how much ill get or whether if ill get in since my stats r so much lower than your son. oh and do u know if students living in nyc have a easier chance of getting in.

Hello,
I am currently a junior in a prestigious specialized high school
I have a 98.55 weighted GPA
My AP classes this year are: Russian, History, and Psychology
I have volunteered at my local hospital, and plan to do a summer internship in a laboratory.

I havent taken my SATs yet, but I will probably get a 2000-2100
What are my chances of getting in? And how much of a scholarship may I possibly recieve?
