St Johns Vs NYIT and Pace for engineering / comp sci

Hi, Unfortunately due to my poor grades i was accepted into St Johns university as a computer science major, nyit as a computer engineering major, and Pace and a computer science major. My question is if i plan on transferring to NYU poly or another school which school would be better for me if i want to transfer after 2 years. NYIT is not known, but it is an engineering school. St Johns is only known for its medical / law program and not its computer science program. So which college should i go to if i plan on transfering to another school?

anyone there?

NYU Poly is better than the all others you mentioned. The CS program at NYU is very competitive and it attracts many financial companies that hire algorithm developers/software engineers.

NYU Poly also offers more aid if you attend all four years. Transferring is a good idea if you know your gpa will stay above 3.5 otherwise there is no money since it’s reserved for incoming freshman.

thanks for your input greenvison but my question is if i wanted to transfer TO nyu poly which of these schools should i attend to maximize my chances of getting in, because NYIT is an engineering school but st johns is more known but not for its CS program

Have you considered attending a CUNY community college for the first two years and then transfer to NYU Poly once you are done with your Assoicate degree? I think this is even better than wasting so much $ at St. John or NYIT.

hi sharptech, i should be able to go to NYIT for free with my scholarship + financial aid, and ill probably have to pay 5 grand for St johns after scholarships + financial aid so i rather not go to a community college. Im still not sure as to which college i should go to, to maximize my chances when i transfer.

Stay away from St. John’s. Please.

lol why, may i ask?

OK then NYIT it is.

So… im not 100% sure im going to major in engineering so i think ill go with st johns? any opinions on this?

anyone? bump

You have to decide which direction your life goes before throwing away four years of hard work only to realize that you took the wrong turn.

I agree with greenvision, but I also suggest that you go to NYIT or a community college. If you can afford St. Johns, then go for it. I suggest NYIT because you can try out a couple of classes that you plan to major in, and then if you don’t like it, you didn’t spend any money.

but st johns isnt known for its CS program + i have to pay 8grand, nyit the school itself isnt known either but i have full tuition covered…

That’s what I said… Go with NYIT because it’s cheaper.

I went to NYIT my freshman year of college. It is a horrific excuse for a college and one of the best choices I ever made was leaving there for a Suny school. It is better than any Cuny school and better than any community college, but it simply does not compare to real University. I went to the Manhattan campus.

It is horrible, but not the worst I have seen and given that its free, I suggest you go there for a year, take some core classes and transfer.

Stay away from professor Nash, he is the worst. I mean worst math professor I have ever seen.

NYIT is not a hard school, grades are usually easy and the location is not bad.

When you transfer you have 3 choices in NYC for CSE

NYU
Columbia or
Cooper Union

The rest are pure trash. Check out Suny Stony Brook or Buffalo. Both are cheap and offer a incredibly good CS education, far better than anything you can find in nyc(minus schools above).

Good luck.
