Can anyone comment on whether SLU has faculty and/or facilities for students who would like to prepare for a career in "Business"? It seems that the school has a number of unusual majors, but nothing for the business major. Thanks.

Pretty sure it has a very strong reputation for business minded folks.

This may help:

Also, SLU offers an accelerated MBA program with several schools, including Union, RIT and some others. My husband recently had a SLU student in a graduate class in the Business school at RIT (part of the accelerated program). He felt the student was extremely well prepared for the type of thinking he expected of the students. He felt, better prepared than most of the Business majors he sees.

If you look under clubs, you will also see that they have an entrepreneur club, if that is of interest.

SLU grads have very typically gone into the business world and the active networking available is something to consider if you are considering a career in business

Finally found/noticed the missing info

SLU have a great career service office that will help you find a job in business. Doesn't necessarily mean you need a business degree to pursue a career in business.

What about undergrads? Internships and stuff?

Great question.

It is my understanding that during the semester, you are on campus and internship with business does not happen. However, during breaks and summer, the career services, alumni office, and even departments will work with motivated students to help find opportunities.

That said, the professors do continually engage with the community for many classes . My son had almost weekly offsight trips in his Environmental Psyc class including Ottawa. My daughter's Sustainable Agriculture class was always engaged in off sight properties. Not exactly business internships, but the idea being that the community welcomes the University. I have heard of many kids who work in the local schools and also at the County Court, to name a few.

Remember the location, the opportunities to do internships with big businesses during the school year would be limited. The good with the bad!

I would agree, jelomom2003. The location does kinda limit the off-campus opportunities during school year. But still, I'm glad to hear that career services and alumni office help students with career-oriented internships. :)
